Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has left for New York to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:05 am on Monday (September 13) aboard a Qatar Airways flight along with his entourage.

During his stay, Dr Yunus is expected to hold several high-level meetings with leaders from various countries and international organisations, including the Netherlands, Pakistan, Nepal, the European Commission, and the United States Secretary of State.

Officials have indicated that a meeting with India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is unlikely during this visit.

Bangladesh is set to make a strong appeal at the UN assembly, urging the international community to take a more active role in addressing the Rohingya crisis.

Dr Yunus is expected to call for stronger global efforts to resolve the ongoing humanitarian issues faced by the Rohingya refugees.

The Chief Adviser is scheduled to conclude his visit and depart for Dhaka on Friday (September 27) night.
